Ruston Sports  1    Lincoln United Reserves  3

In what could be that last few days of an indian summer a local derby was played out in front a good crowd at the RMSC sports ground.

Play was fairly even in the early minutes with the Lincoln Utd front two of Cosgrove and Turner and the front two of Rustons Stokes and Awolaja causing both defences problems. The deadlock was broken after 30 minutes when a free kick was awarded on the edge of the Ruston box after Lincoln Utd Reserves broke well and Mackinder stepped up and despatched the free kick into the top corner giving Clifton in the Rustons goal no chance. Rustons then really took the game to Lincoln Utd and got their rewards after superb play by Stokes resulted in a cross being finished well by Ola Awolaja. Play was then even until a minute before half time when Lincoln Utd broke well and Sam Turner picked the ball out wide cut inside and despatched an unsavable shot into the top corner.

The second half started with Rustons piling the pressure on the United goal and went close through Stokes and Coulson but in all fairness the United defence and Keeper coped well the pressure and they then scored the decisive goal with 5 to go when they broke and Wilcockson got the better of Melton and finished well to grab the three points for United Reserves.
