Grimsby Borough Reserves  1    Heckington United  3

After a goalless first half in which they lost young centre back Harry Kirwan after only 4 minutes, Heckington gained 3 good points at Grimsby Borough who have not been outside the top 5 all season.

Having midfielder and Captain Paul Reece in an unfamiliar centre back role, he was joined by full back Carl Wilson after the departure to hospital of Kirwan. Both, along with Steve Garfoot and emergency left back Lee Llewellyn,  performed admirably to keep at bay the lively Borough attack.

After the break it was Grimsby who scored through a penalty to take an early lead. Heckington had a good save from Andy Wilson to thank when he presented a huge barrier to thwart an attacker clean through on goal.

A goal each from the impressive strike force of Luke Hollingworth, Ewan Clarke and Nathan Thompson secured the points for United.

Next week United visit Swineshead Institute 2pm kick off.
